The introduction of Scarlet Witch into the MCU came with some changes to the character. She was no longer a mutant, which had to be changed for licensing issues between Fox and Marvel/Disney, so she was given a new backstory that better fits into the established events. And WandaVision made it clear that there would be further changes to the character.

The audience can see the way her profound losses have shaped her character. She clings to the idea of a happy and perfect world when her real life is given nothing but loss. When the show establishes her pain, she is made more human.

In the movies, Wanda is one of many Avengers. When given her own show, she got a chance at the spotlight. She is given a clear set of goals that make her character better.

She wants a life with Vision, a happy family with a husband and children. She put a lot of work and effort into making her goals come into existence. By the end of the show, she is given new goals that she can strive to achieve.

6 She Got To Experience A Normal Life

In recent years, Wanda joined the Avengers and became a superhero. Before then, she had spent time being experimented on in a laboratory. There hadn't been anything ordinary about her life since she was a child watching sitcoms in war-torn Sokovia.

She got to experience an ordinary life in WandaVision, fictional though it may have been. She got to be a wife and mother, living her version of the dream life. For a little while, she didn't have to deal with the pain or stress she normally experienced.

5 She Learns More About Herself

Wanda learns exactly what she is capable of doing in WandaVision. She was able to take over an entire town of people, shaping the world to her personal preference and doing so almost subconsciously.

Her conversations with people like Hayward and Agatha revealed insights into her personality and true abilities. Wanda is able to learn more about who she is and the things that she can do. She's able to think about her motivations and what's really important to her.

4 She Was Given The Name Scarlet Witch

Despite initially coming off as Wanda's friend, Agnes is eventually revealed to be Agatha Harkness in disguise. Agatha is a centuries-old witch with a lot of insight into Wanda and her powers, and witches in general.

Agatha is able to explain things to Wanda. It is Agatha who first refers to Wanda as a Scarlet Witch and informs her that she is using chaos magic, complaining about the way Wanda is using her powers. Agatha's revelations will likely play a major part of the character moving forward.

3 Her Powers Seem To Have Increased

WandaVision reveals that Wanda was actually born with her powers. Her powers may have faded away if it weren't for some of her later experiences in life. Instead of fading, her powers have only increased.

Fans were disappointed when Wanda was first brought to the screen. There were so many changes that were made to her, with one of the changes seeming to have made her weaker. WandaVision revealed exactly how powerful she could be, closer to her comic counterpart (and having the potential to surpass it).

2 She Becomes More Like Her Comic Book Counterpart

Some of the changes in WandaVision seemed to be intended to make Wanda more like the comic book version of her character. Her backstory is changed so that her powers were given to her at birth, possibly opening the MCU up to storylines involving mutants.

Her powers are increased. She has twins like her comic book character, and during the Halloween episode, she is given a costume reminiscent of what she wears in the comics. The whole show seems to be a reference to her altering history in House of M.

1 She Is Given A New Hope For Her Future

At the end of the show, Wanda once again loses everything. Vision is brought back to life but without his heart, and she loses her beloved children. In an incredible plot twist (that was a twist of a previous twist), she learns the brother who returned to her is actually an imposter.

She'd already lost a lot in life and now she's lost even more. It would be easy for her to lose hope. But the show ends with her children calling for her help, leading fans to believe they are still alive. Fans are expecting to see her in the next Doctor Strange movie, searching for her sons and further demonstrating her growing powers.
