Disney+ series WandaVision and Loki, along with a handful of other shows set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, were recently named among the most pirated shows of 2021.

The most downloaded show in 2021 was the Disney+ show WandaVision, which ran for nine episodes at the beginning of the year, according to Torrent Freak. It narrowly beat the Tom Hiddleston-led Loki, which landed in second place. Meanwhile, fellow MCU shows The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Hawkeye nabbed the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Only the success of Netflix's The Witcher at number three prevented the top five from being an all-Marvel Studios and Disney+ affair.

In addition to being the most pirated show of the year, with each episode being downloaded millions of times, Wandavision's success on Disney+ resulted in the announcement of a spinoff series centered on Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness. Little is known about the series, besides the fact that it will be called Agatha: House of Harkness. In fact, Hahn revealed in late November, "I mean I didn't even know the title of the show until it was released to the public, they keep it so tight."

Similarly, it was announced earlier this year that the story of the God of Mischief Loki will continue in the second season of Loki. While Marvel Studios President/Marvel CCO Kevin Feige confirmed development on Season 2 is underway, he also suggested the new season of Loki likely won't hit Disney+ until 2022 or 2023. "The hope is that much of the same team will return," he said at the time. "Kate [Herron, who served as director for Season 1] is going on to bigger and better things, so the director search will begin shortly."

Other shows that landed in the top 10 included Marvel's What If…?, Foundation, Rick and Morty, Arcane, and The Wheel of Time. It's worth pointing out, however, that BitTorrent’s rankings were based on single episode downloads. This means that downloads of entire seasons are underrepresented and series released online all at once are also disadvantaged. With those considerations in mind, Netflix's Casa de Papel could have replaced Hawkeye in the fifth spot and Squid Game would have made it into the top 10 as well.

A handful of other Marvel television shows are also in the works, which will introduce a handful of new characters. These include Ms. Marvel, which is due to premiere in summer 2022 and stars Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. Marvel's Moon Knight is also due to air on Disney+ in 2022, but no date has yet been confirmed. That series will star Oscar Isaac as series protagonist Marc Spector, who is described as a "complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder."
