According to WandaVision costar and Monica Rambeau actor Teyonah Parris, Evan Peters' fake Pietro or Fietro character almost had a different real name on the Marvel Cinematic Universe series.

In the WandaVision finale, Monica discovered that Fietro was not really Wanda's brother Pietro from another Marvel universe, as many viewers speculated. Rather, he's Ralph Bohner, a resident of Westview that Agnes/Agatha had been controlling the whole time. Speaking to Collider, Parris noted that Ralph's name "changed a couple of times" during production.

“Even on the day [of filming], there was another option. I might have said it for the camera," Parris added. "They’re like, ‘Just throw this in, just in case,’ but I can’t remember what it was."

It's believed that "Ralph Bohner" was meant to be a reference to Richard “Boner” Stabone, a comic relief supporting character from the 1980s sitcom Growing Pains. WandaVision series director Matt Shakman even played the character Graham "J.R." Lubbock Jr. on a pair of episodes in Growing Pains Season 3. He reprised the role for Just the Ten of Us, a spinoff series that aired on ABC for three seasons from 1988-1990.

While Peters' character was always meant to have a funny-sounding name, Parris didn't give any specific examples. However, she insisted "None [of them] topped Bohner, I’ll tell you that. That was very like, ‘Okay! We’re going for the Bohner!’”

Prior to WandaVision, Peters played the non-MCU version of Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver in Fox's X-Men movies. Following the finale's premiere, WandaVison head writer Jac Schaeffer confirmed that his casting was the show's way of messing with its audience while also giving the X-Men films a shout-out. However, she failed to anticipate that his appearance would lead to viewers expecting additional cameos.

"We knew that it was gonna blow people's minds," Schaeffer explained. "What I didn't anticipate was that it would be like, 'Well if they're giving us Evan Peters they're gonna give us Michael Fassbender."

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. The full series is streaming on Disney+.
