WandaVision star Elizabeth Olsen has commented on the Marvel Cinematic Universe show having a "feminine energy," both in front of and behind the camera.

"This whole show feels very female, in a really, like, guttural pelvic core way," Olsen explained in a video interview with Variety. "And I do feel that in our show and the way we tell our story, and I think what it largely also did, and I don't want to take away from any of the men on our show, but we did have this feminine energy of just large collaboration, large teamwork, lots of dialogue, lots of open communication... which I think, generally speaking, one would say is more feminine than masculine..."

"But that was the tone of our show," Olsen continued. "And that is how we always worked through our days, how we worked through a year of working. There was 110 days of a shoot, I think, and we always had that open communication dialogue from the boot camp until our last days on set."

While WandaVision marks the first time Olsen is playing the character of Wanda Maximoff with a predominately female creative team, it's far from her first time inhabiting this role. Exempting her mid-credits debut appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Olsen has portrayed Wanda Maximoff in four different MCU titles, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. In addition to reprising the part in the ongoing first season of WandaVision, Olsen will also appear as Wanda Maximoff in the upcoming movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. The series premiere is now available on Disney+.
