As Marvel Cinematic Universe fans continue to dissect the period-accurate retro commercials appearing throughout WandaVision thus far, one fan uploaded their own convincing knockoff version of one, starring Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury advertising a "Quicksilver" credit card.Twitter user @29Dilaurentis added a filter over a 2019 Capital One commercial that features Jackson advertising the "Quicksilver" credit card, with the caption,"So one of the commercials in this week's [WandaVision] has been leak. It's great to see [Samuel L. Jackson] again."
Given WandaVision's incorporation of S.W.O.R.D. -- an agency directly linked to S.H.I.E.L.D. in Marvel Comics -- fans speculated that S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Fury might appear in the Marvel Studios/Disney+ series. Furthermore, Wanda's brother Pietro Maximoff, known by the codename 'Quicksilver,' only made this faked commercial more convincing at first glance.
So far, WandaVision has featured three in-sitcom commercials intentionally designed to trigger fan-speculation. As show creator Jac Schaeffer previously stated, "The commercials, people are very focused on the Easter eggs of it and the meaning of it, which is great and what I want. I want fans to be engaged in that way."
Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. New episodes air Fridays on Disney+.
