WARNING: The following contains spoilers for WandaVision Episode 9, "The Series Finale," now streaming on Disney+.

In the WandaVision finale, Wanda Maximoff finds herself fighting not just for her own life, but also that of her conjured-up family in Westview. Following the reveal that Agnes is really the sadistic witch Agatha Harkness, Wanda learns more about the origin of her own powers and the Scarlet Witch. Agatha, for her part, wants to drain those powers, as she did her own coven centuries prior. However, as the two mystical powerhouses battle it out in the WandaVision finale, Wanda bests Agnes and confines her to a fate worse than death.

During the finale's big battle, Agatha tries to suck Wanda's magical essence out of her while they're flying above Westview. However, unbeknownst to Agatha, her lesson about witches not being able to use magic while inside another's runes rubbed off on Wanda. Using her Chaos Magic, Wanda traps Agatha within her own set of red-glowing runes. From there, Wanda depowers Agatha and proves victorious in their battle, taking her magic in the process

But as they descend to the street, Wanda can't help but feel sorry for the broken Agnes. As a result, when Agatha asks if Wanda is going to kill her, the Scarlet Witch says no, which is surprising considering the threat the elder witch posed to Westview, Vision, Billy and Tommy. Instead, Wanda decides a more lasting punishment is in order.

Wanda uses her magic to turn Agatha into the "nosy neighbor" archetype she played in the sitcom reality. From there, Agatha's witch costume disappeared, making her again look like any other resident of Westview, the real version of which will now be her prison. This reborn version of Agnes will be none the wiser that she's been locked away from the world.

It's a cruel fate, as Agatha wanted ultimate power, and instead finds herself with only the very gimmick she thought she was duping Wanda with. Overall, this fate is fitting but cruel, though perhaps something Agatha deserves for her wrongdoings. After all, Agatha puppeteered people, created havoc in the sitcom reality world and tortured Wanda with memories of her family's death, not to mention a Fake Pietro. All of these reasons are why she has no problem leaving Agnes in a state she knows causes suffering.

Still, this might not be the last we see of Agatha. As their conversation comes to a close, Agatha claims Wanda has unleashed something with which she'll need help. However, as Wanda retorts, she'll know where to find Agatha if she does indeed need any assistance in the future.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes.
