WARNING: The following contains spoilers for the WandaVision Finale, "The Series Finale," now streaming on Disney+.

The WandaVision finale saw Wanda Maximoff and Agatha Harkness go head-to-head, and in the magical duel, it was the Scarlet Witch who prevailed. However, Agatha may still have a role to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially when it comes to the franchise's upcoming version of the Fantastic Four.

In "The Series Finale," Agatha and Wanda square off throughout the episode, with the former intending to steal the latter's power for herself. Though their journey takes them through town and even a flashback, it ends in a victory for the Scarlet Witch. She's able to use Agatha's own teachings against her, constructing a circle of runes to make the witch powerless.

Wanda then brings the two of them back to Earth, with her enemy now weakened. Though she decides to bring down the magical "hex" she cast over Westview, she makes one exception. Wanda decides to essentially mindwipe Agatha, turning her permanently into the "nosy neighbor" role she cast herself in.

Naturally, Agatha protests, and she points out that Wanda has just fully embraced her role as the Scarlet Witch, a legendary figure of immense Chaos Magic. According to Agatha, only she can handle this power and Wanda will need her help, but Agatha's pleas fail to win over Wanda, and in a few seconds, she's back to spouting sassy one-liners with a friendly smile.

One would assume that's it for Agatha, now permanently trapped in her role as "Agnes," but given her magical talents, as well as her comic book origin, there's a chance Kathryn Hahn's fan-favorite character may fight to see another day in a different story, the highly-anticipated Fantastic Four film.

Though her character largely links with the Scarlet Witch, Agatha Harkness made her debut in Fantastic Four #94 in 1970. There, Marvel's First Family bring newborn Franklin Richards to her, hearing she's a notorious child rearing expert, but they get more than they bargained for when the Frightful Four attack and subdue the heroes; however, they are driven away by Agatha and her cat, Ebony, who surprise everyone with their magical might.

While there has been much speculation, there's little news about the Fantastic Four movie up to this point, including whether young Franklin will appear in the film. If that's the case, having Agatha somehow leave Westview and become his babysitter would be a fun way to acknowledge the character's original backstory while also providing a hint of danger, as fans would wonder if and when Agatha would revert back to her usual self.

There's also the fact that a renowned man of magic also exists in the Fantastic Four universe: Victor von Doom. While a brilliant scientist, the Latverian monarch's mother, Cynthia, dabbled in the dark arts, even getting involved with the infamous Mephisto. As Doctor Doom slipped into becoming a supervillain, he gained further interest in sorcery, and he eventually possessed skills that rivaled the Sorcerer Supreme's at times.

Doctor Doom is one of Marvel's biggest villains and an obvious inclusion for the MCU later down the line, so Agatha could be an easy conduit to introduce him. Her vast knowledge and history with magic could make her a prospective tutor for a man wanting to learn more about his family tree, and with Agatha's powers gone in Westview, who better to weaponize for revenge than an unhinged magical student.

WandaVision served to set up a slew of future MCU projects, with the Scarlet Witch starring in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the finale's mid-credits scene setting up Captain Marvel 2 and/or Secret Invasion. Agatha being left alive could also be another piece of foreshadowing, giving an out for the witch to play a part in the highly-anticipated Fantastic Four movie.

Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. All episodes are now available on Disney+.
