WandaVision's Kathryn Hahn is getting an Agatha Harkness spinoff series from Marvel Studios and Disney+.
According to Variety, the plot of the spinoff is unclear, but WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer is expected to develop the project as part of her recently signed three-year deal with Marvel Studios.
Hahn initially appeared in WandaVision as Agnes, the nosy neighbor of Westview's new power couple, Wanda and Vision. Over the course of the limited series, however, it became clear there was more to Agnes than met the eye. As it turned out, she was actually the evil witch Agatha Harkness, whose fascination with Wanda's chaos magic led to a clash between Agatha and the newly dubbed Scarlet Witch.
WandaVision ended with Wanda using her abilities to alter Agatha's mind and make her believe she truly was Westview citizen Agnes Bohner.
Hahn's take on Agatha was one of the many raved-about aspects of WandaVision. In fact, her performance of "Agatha All Along" even helped the show net a win for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
"It was one of those miraculous things that happened," Marvel Studios President/Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige recalled in January about how Hahn joined WandaVision. "Maybe it was over the course of months. In my memory, it all happened very quickly. It was a rare general meeting, which we don't usually have a lot of time to do, but Kathryn came in and sat down with Luis D'Esposito. She was a fan of what we were up to and we're fans of hers. At exactly that same time, we were sitting in that writer's room trying to think of who to play Agnes. It probably took five seconds for somebody to say, 'Wait, what about Kathryn? She was in yesterday.'"
The Agatha Harkness series will join an ever-growing roster of Marvel shows on Disney+, including the yet-to-premiere Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Armor Wars, Ironheart, Echo and an untitled Wakanda series.
All nine episodes of WandaVision are streaming on Disney+. The next Marvel Disney+ series, Hawkeye, premieres Nov. 24.
