Legendary comic book creator Walt Simonson will return to the adventures of The Mighty Thor for the character's upcoming back-to-basics revival as part of the Marvel Legacy publishing initiative. Simonson will pencil a story in Thor #700, due to hit stores on Wednesday, October 18.Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Axel Alonso shared a glimpse of Simonson's contribution to the issue in a post to Twitter, revealing a page of Simonson's pencils from his story. Longtime Mighty Thor scribe Jason Aaron echoed the announcement in a subsequent tweet, confirming that he's writing the story that Simonson is drawing. Simonson was of course responsible for writing and drawing one of the most beloved runs on Thor from 1983-1987. Over the course of his run he introduced the fan-favorite character Beta Ray Bill, and countless other elements to the mythos that would go on to influence the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.
