The British stop motion duo of Wallace & Gromit are returning with an augmented reality adventure. Debuting this fall, the iconic duo will be starring in the augmented reality project Wallace & Gromit: The Big Fix Up.

According to Variety, the production, hailing from Aardman Animations, will focus on "featuring all-new animation, makes fans part of [Wallace & Gromit's] latest business venture: Spick & Spanners, which lands the contract of a lifetime — to 'fix up' the city of Bristol."

"Wallace and Gromit’s heart and soul is in stop-motion, but they have often dabbled in the cutting edge of tech, and this is one of those occasions," Aardman’s creative director of Wallace & Gromit, Merlin Crossingham, said in a statement. "We are delighted to join forces with the amazing folk at Fictioneers to take Wallace and Gromit on a new adventure in such a groundbreaking way."

Though The Big Fix Up will be Wallace & Gromit's first foray into augmented reality, it will be far from the duo's first adventure. Ever since their debut appearance in the 1989 short film A Grand Day Out, Wallace & Gromit have appeared in numerous short films, video games and commercials, including the Oscar-winning short film The Wrong Trousers.

Their exploits have also included a feature film, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which grossed $192.6 million worldwide and scored an Oscar win for Best Animated Feature. The Big Fix Up will be accessible through an app available for both iPhone and Android users.
