The Walking Dead: World Beyond showed a vision of The Walking Dead Universe that seemingly adjusted after the zombie apocalypse to rebuild society. However, the latest trailer for the spinoff's second and final season promises an explosive war just around the corner.

In an exclusive teaser trailer for World Beyond Season 2, the Civic Republic Military is seen asserting its dominance, from a fleet of helicopters flying menacingly on the horizon to a squad of heavily armed CRM soldiers brandishing their assault rifles. As the shooting starts, all while ravenous walkers continue to roam the post-apocalyptic countryside in great numbers, CRM Lieutenant Colonel Elizabeth Kublek declares that the opening salvo is "just the beginning."

The exclusive trailer provides more of a look at elements first glimpsed in the season's previously released extended trailer. This includes Kublek overlooking the destruction of the CRM compound's walls, protecting it from walkers roaming on the outside. Also seen are walkers being led out of a detention area before massing around another walled compound at night, erupting into a massive firefight to cut down the zombies before they overwhelm the defenders.

Premiering in October 2020, The Walking Dead: World Beyond is the second Walking Dead spinoff television series, following Fear the Walking Dead. World Beyond is set approximately 10 years after the zombie apocalypse began, following the first generation of survivors growing up since the initial outbreak. Venturing outside their walled city, a group of teenage misfits exploring the world teeming with undead quickly found themselves targeted by the CRM. Season 1 concluded with a series of revelations as the CRM targeted the teenage survivor Hope for a currently unknown reason, revealing that her friend Huck was secretly working for the military organization all along to get closer to her.

October is poised to be a huge month for The Walking Dead, with Fear the Walking Dead Season 7 premiering on Oct. 17, two weeks after World Beyond Season 2, while the main series reaching the mid-season finale for its 11th and final season on Oct. 10. World Beyond Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes and will be the spinoff's last, as confirmed by AMC months before its series premiere.
