As audiences prepare to watch the Los Angeles Rams take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII, The Walking Dead has unveiled a new football-themed promo teasing the AMC series' midseason premiere in exactly one week.
Shared on the popular survival horror series' official Twitter account, the teaser promises "the matchup of the season" between the show's main cast and new villain faction the Whisperers on a dimly lit football field.
As the new enemies disguising themselves in the skin of the undead brandish their knives, they face Daryl, Michonne, Carol, Ezekiel and Judith Grimes. With the battle lines drawn, Whisperer leader Alpha lets out her ominously signature hush before the conflict resumes in earnest.
For fans that have subscribed to AMC's premium streaming service, AMC Premiere, the midseason premiere, titled "Adaptation," is already available to watch through the digital platform. The episode is directed by longtime series executive producer, director and special make-up effects supervisor Greg Nicotero.
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. The series returns for the second half of Season 9 on February 10.
