As the currently untitled second spinoff series for The Walking Dead moves deep into pre-production, the upcoming AMC series has cast its lead actors.

According to Variety, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu and Hal Cumpston have been cast in major roles for the planned spinoff, which will reportedly feature the first-generation of survivors to grow up following the franchise's zombie apocalypse. None of the characters have currently been named, while a second lead female role currently remains to be cast.

Mansour (Unfiltered: Dark Web) will reportedly portray a likable, impulsive rule-breaker with a sad secret, while Cantu (LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures) will portray a boy described as an old soul and trained in martial arts. Cumpston (Bilched) portrays a character described as big for his age, who scares other children due to his size, making him a bit of a loner figure.

Principal photography on the spinoff series is expected to begin this summer in Virginia for an unspecified 2020 premiere date. The series is created by The Walking Dead Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple and longtime The Walking Dead producer and writer, Matt Negrete, who will serve as the upcoming spinoff's showrunner for its ten-episode first season.
