Jeffrey Dean Morgan assures fans of AMC's The Walking Dead that everyone will be fine after Andrew Lincoln's upcoming departure as Rick Grimes. It's the end of an era as the long-running drama says farewell on Sunday to Lincoln, who's been the lead from the beginning. Although audiences have known since May that the actor is leaving, that hasn't stopped the hand-wringing about what comes next.

When Morgan was asked on Twitter how he feels about Rick's final episode, Sunday's "What Comes After," he replied, "Same way you all feel probably." His advice is for fans of The Walking Dead and of Rick to stick together and get through the loss. While the actor refused to reveal what happens in Rick's final episode, he implored fans to stick with The Walking Dead and teased, "This season is GOOOOOOD."

Morgan plays the bat-swinging Negan on The Walking Dead, and some have called for him to take on the mantle of "new Rick" to lead the various communities. If that's the case, it could explain why Lauren Cohan's Maggie Rhee is also leaving in Season 9. Since Negan murdered Maggie's husband Glenn, she's been outspoken on what the group should do with him, and famously locked horns with Rick for sparing Negan's life.

Details surrounding Rick's final episode are still a mystery, but things aren't looking good after he was gravely wounded, and seemingly left at the mercy of two hordes of walkers. Things are coming full circle for The Walking Dead, and "What Comes After" will see the long-awaited return of Jon Bernthal as Shane Walsh. It looks like the episode will be a mix of current day, flashbacks and hallucinations, which would seem to signal that things aren't looking good for Rick.

Either way, there's no escaping that The Walking Dead will be a very different show when Lincoln bows out. Whether Rick gets to ride off into the sunset or joins the likes of Lori and Carl as just another victim of the apocalypse remains to be seen, but find out more when "What Comes After" airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
