The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus was asked about the potential return of Andrew Lincoln for the final season of the AMC series. However, his answer is unlikely to quash any speculation.

Speaking to Radio Times and other media, Reedus, who has played Daryl Dixon since the show premiered in 2010, shared that during a recent phone conversation with Lincoln, he asked his former co-star if he'd be returning for Season 11. According to Reedus, Lincoln evaded the question. "He won’t say anything. He won’t commit," Reedus said. "I have no idea. I literally don’t know. I wish I knew." Reedus did, however, admit that due to his "big mouth," it is unlikely the powers that be would tell him if Lincoln was returning.

Andrew Lincoln played sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes for nine seasons before departing AMC's hit zombie apocalypse show in 2018. The character was last seen in Season 9, Episode 5 critically injured aboard a helicopter, leaving open the possibility for a return to the show. Lincoln is slated to reprise the character in a trilogy of films set in The Walking Dead Universe.

AMC announced in September that the series would conclude with a 24-episode final season that would air over the course of two years. Reedus, meanwhile, will continue to play Daryl Dixon in a spinoff series set to air in 2023 in which he'll co-star with Melissa McBride, who plays Carol Peletier on The Walking Dead. That series will join other spinoffs including Fear the Walking Dead, which begins its sixth season on Oct. 9, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, which will debut its first season on Oct. 4. A fourth spinoff, the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead, is currently in development.

Airing Sunday, Oct. 4 on AMC, The Walking Dead Season 10 finale stars Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton and Cooper Andrews.
