The Walking Dead has released a first look at Danai Gurira's Michonne from its upcoming Season 10, which could possibly be Gurira's final season on the hit AMC zombie series.
The image features Michonne taking her blade to a fallen zombie, with a raging fire blazing in the background.
“One of the things that we have going on this season is, we’re continuing some explorations of natural elements and how they play into our world,” showrunner Angela Kang told Entertainment Weekly. “And fire is one of those elements that comes into play in a few key ways that twist the story in a way that will be pretty exciting.”
When asked if there are any other takeaways from this new image, Kang remained coy, while providing a few teases. “I don’t want to give too much away about this particular story because hopefully there’s some unexpected aspects to it,” Kang said. “But we will definitely see our people trying to contend with things that they can’t handle in the same ways that we do in our world now.”
Kang previously confirmed Season 10 will introduce another time jump in its premiere. "We’re passing a few months, probably," when asked how much time has passed since the likes of Maggie and Daryl escorted the Kingdom survivors to the Hilltop. She went on to explain, "I feel like we mark time on the show based on the children. So we saw Rosita pretty heavily pregnant at the end of last year, and I’ll say that that state has changed."
AMC's The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nadia Hilker, Dan Fogler, Angel Theory, Lauren Ridloff and Eleanor Matsuura. The series returns for its 10th season in October.
