Even though we’re excited that The Walking Dead will be returning soon for its tenth season, it is with a heavy heart that we will be saying farewell to Michonne. The actress has announced her decision to leave, which might mean we’ll be seeing Michonne bite the dust.

Before all of that can come to pass, it’s better to liven ourselves up by reminding the fanbase the kind of badass Michonne is. With her trusty katana on her side, Michonne’s kills have always been more stylish than the rest of the characters, with the added effect of violence added to them. For you to know better, here are 10 of Michonne’s most violent kills on The Walking Dead.

10 Tony And Harley

Sometimes, you get to see the best skills displayed by a character when they are threatened the most, with Michonne fulfilling this requirement against the Claimers. Here, the group was pinned down by the Claimers, who were ready to violate Carl before killing them.

As soon as Rick savagely bit off the Claimer leader’s throat, Michonne grabbed her opportunity and turned the tables on the bad guys. She twisted the hand of the man holding her at gunpoint, promptly shooting him through his chin. Michonne then swiveled around and shot the next guy clean through the head with one bullet.

9 Ron Anderson

This would have ranked higher had it not been such a swift kill, but you have to consider the fact that Michonne slaughtered the life of a boy who was barely into his teenage years. She killed Ron off vehemently too, as the boy was impaled through his chest with her katana.

Of course, Michonne did so to protect Rick from getting shot by Ron, but her lack of even the slightest bit of remorse for killing someone as young as Ron gives us the shivers about what Michonne is capable of in times of duress. Not to mention the fact that Michonne then left the dying Ron to be devoured by walkers.

8 Farron

Where the “vicious” part is concerned, this one might be the brutal one yet, but the credit doesn’t go completely to Michonne as luck favored her here. In this fight, Michonne and Farron spent a good deal of screentime tussling over who would kill the other, resulting in Michonne getting bloodied more than ever.

Michonne did get to be the winner of this fight, but it’s not something she would consider her greatest victory because it took dropping Farron from the balcony and into her death for Michonne to walk free. However, the sheer brutality with which the two women fought each other makes this one deserving of mention.

7 Hershel (Zombified)

This was vicious to the heart rather to the sword, as Michonne took the “life” of one of her father figures. Hershel had previously been dismembered by the Governor before Michonne happened to stumble upon Hershel’s reanimated head.

With great personal sadness, Michonne drove her katana into the zombified Hershel’s head to put him out of his undead misery. If it had been any other zombie, we wouldn’t have made anything of it, but it was hard to look at knowing this was our very own Hershel.

6 Mitchell

The first of many deserving people Michonne slaughtered, Mitchell was part of Jocelyn’s group who took children from unsuspecting communities and brainwashed them into becoming murderers.

Mitchell was the older one of the group, and Michonne didn’t feel as bad about killing him than the others. It wasn’t pretty, but it certainly was enjoyable to see this dude get what was coming to him; too bad we didn’t get to see it longer.

5 Theresa

Here’s another person who deserved the horrible death they got, as Theresa was one of the people from the Terminus group who had arrived at the church to kill and eat baby Judith! So, just hearing that part will have turned you against Theresa, we can imagine.

In order to save their bullets, the group decided to bludgeon the Terminus group to their deaths. Theresa, unfortunately nearest to Michonne at the time, tasted the back of Michonne’s rifle when the latter brutally clobbered Theresa to her bloody death. Like Mitchell’s death, we couldn’t get to see Theresa get her just desserts for too long onscreen.

4 Penny Blake

Killing children is something even a badass like Michonne doesn’t condone, but it certainly is an exception when the child in question is a zombie. And, for Michonne, it was an added advantage that Penny happened to be the undead daughter of the Governor.

Seeing all of this working in her favor, Michonne drove her katana into the zombie kid, causing her to drop dead—or deader than before—and spiral the Governor into madness. Considering the state of undead Penny, Michonne probably did her a favor by impaling her.

3 The Governor

Michonne got her most wanted kill when she found the Governor in the perfect position to be struck down. As the Governor was busy choking Rick to death, Michonne took this opportunity to drive her katana through him.

Unlike the Governor’s daughter’s death, Michonne didn’t allow the Governor an easy demise and specifically sliced him just enough to die in complete agony. She could have easily made another move and ended his suffering, but Michonne had clearly been precise with her move to want to make the Governor writhe in pain.

2 Jocelyn

How much of a badass was Michonne when she not only endured torture at the hands of Jocelyn but killed her while being pregnant? Jocelyn represented the worst in humanity, as she kidnapped other people’s children to sway their minds for her own motives, and she did this with Michonne by kidnapping Judith.

After being tortured and escaping her binds, Michonne found Jocelyn and had to overcome being ambushed before bringing the woman on her back and plunging her katana into her heart. Fortunately, we got a good shot of the life leaving Jocelyn’s eyes as she processed her final moments; distraught with the knowledge that good had prevailed.

1 The Children

This was a sequence that caused massive controversy for The Walking Dead, as we saw Michonne do what Star Wars fans would call, “Killing Younglings.” Jocelyn had done far too good a job at brainwashing these children as they ran one by one over to Michonne to kill her.

Despite Michonne pleading for them to step back, the children didn’t relent, resulting in their slaughter. With one motion after another, Michonne brought her katana down to slice and dice these children to death. It was a horrible sight to watch, but it was a move that was important as Michonne wanted nothing more but to protect her daughter.
