The final, 24-episode season of The Walking Dead will premiere in 2021 and conclude in 2022. However, the franchise will live on beyond the original series. Spinoff Fear the Walking Dead has no plans on slowing down, and an untitled series following The Walking Dead's Daryl and Carol is in the works. A comedy series based in the post-apocalyptic zombie world is also in development. (The Walking Dead's second spinoff, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, will come to a close after its second season.)

There are also plans for three Walking Dead films starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, who left the original series in Season 9. The first film is rumored to premiere in 2021, although no official release date has been confirmed.

Before Season 11, though, fans will get to enjoy an extra six episodes of The Walking Dead Season 10. The first new episode will premiere on Feb. 21 on AMC+ and Feb. 28 on AMC.

The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton and Cooper Andrews. Season 10 returns Sunday, Feb. 28 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on AMC. AMC+ subscribers can watch the premiere early, starting on Feb. 21.
