After a months-long hiatus, The Walking Dead: The Final Season returns this month for its third and penultimate installment, "Broken Toys."

Developer Skybound Games has released a new trailer for the upcoming episode that shows the popular video game series' protagonist Clementine face dark developments as she continues to survive in a world overrun by hordes of the undead. Meanwhile, the conflict with the Whisperers intensifies.

An adaptation of the popular Image Comics series of the same name, the third and fourth episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season are developed by Skybound Games. The change in developer came about after original developer Telltale Games underwent mass layoffs this past September, with the point-and-click title originally announced as cancelled after releasing its first two chapters.

By New York Comic Con this past October, series creator and Skybound Entertainment co-founder and chairman Robert Kirkman announced that the company had successfully regained rights to the title, with several laid-off employees from TellTale hired by Skybound to complete the last two episodes of The Final Season.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season's third episode "Broken Toys" is scheduled to be released on January 15. It is developed by Skybound Games for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
