Norman Reedus, known for his role as Darryl Dixon in The Walking Dead, recently teased a sequel to Death Stranding, the 2019 video game in which he plays protagonist Sam Porter Bridges.

As reported by IGN Brazil, Reedus spoke on the existence of a sequel to Death Stranding during an interview with AdoroCinema. When asked about the future of Hideo Kojima's latest project, Reedus stated, "I think we're doing a second Death Stranding," going on to say that the development team is "in negotiations right now. So... yay!"

While it's currently unconfirmed, Reedus is likely not referring to Death Stranding: Director's Cut, which launches for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on Sept. 24. This updated version of the game adds plenty of new mechanics, missions, items and graphical enhancements but it's not a sequel to the original game. In fact, game director Hideo Kojima doesn't even like calling it a "director's cut" as that implies that content was cut from the first iteration of the game. According to Kojima, everything in Death Stranding: Director's Cut was produced for the expanded version.

Death Stranding tells the story of Sam Porter Bridges, a courier making his way across a post-apocalyptic United States. During his journey, Sam must fight back against terrible creatures called BTs while ensuring his cargo remains intact and undamaged, driven a goal of reunited America. The game stars Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Troy Baker and Guillermo del Toro.

As for Death Stranding: Director's Cut, fans of the original game can expect a suite of new items to make traversing the wasteland easier. These include a cargo canon, a buddy bot and a jetpack. The game will also feature an expanded combat system, vehicles and several technical improvements. PlayStation 5 players will be able to experience the game through adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, 3D audio and two graphical settings: Performance Mode and Fidelity Mode.
