A talented fan of The Walking Dead captured the likeness of star Norman Reedus in a series of photos brandishing a shockingly realistic mask.

Shared on Reddit by FeralWorks, the cosplay perfectly pulls off a Daryl Dixon likeness with a self-crafted Norman Reedus mask that's so life-like, you'd think he fell victim to the face-wearing Whisperers. The Walking Dead cosplayer also wore the fan-favorite character’s signature outfit consisting of a black long-sleeved shirt and a black leather vest. To top it all off, the getup includes a fake crossbow similar to Daryl’s iconic weapon in the original series. Additionally, the cosplayer plans to repurpose the Reedus mask to portray the actor as Sam Porter Bridges from the popular video game Death Stranding.

Daryl Dixon's French Connection

After The Walking Dead concluded its eleven-season run this past November, Reedus geared up to reprise Daryl Dixon in his very own self-titled spinoff of AMC’s long-running horror drama, which is still currently in production in France. The series hails from Scott M. Gimple and Angela, who have signed on as co-creators and co-executive producers. Joining him are franchise newcomers Clémence Poésy and Adam Nagaitis, who have been tapped for the respective roles of female lead Isabelle and nightclub owner Quinn. The first set photos of Daryl Dixon provided viewers their first look at Poésy’s Isabelle, teasing her significance in Daryl’s new story arc.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will feature Daryl in a whole new environment as he finds himself lost in France with no memory of how and why he ended up in Europe. In a previous interview, Reedus explained how his series will reset The Walking Dead franchise. "You learn a lot of things after 12 years of doing a show, and there are certain paths that you inevitably have to go down because [there is such a big cast],” he said. “We don't really have that over there. It's kind of a fresh start for us, with all the things that we loved doing, and just a whole bunch more.”

The Walking Dead’s Expanding Universe

AMC is also currently producing two other Walking Dead spinoffs which are also led by fan-favorite characters from the main series. Before Daryl Dixon premieres later this year, The Walking Dead: Dead City will be starting off the new era of the franchise's expanding universe in June 2023. Featuring the return of Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the spinoff will revolve around the unlikely duo of Maggie and Negan as they embark on a dangerous rescue mission in post-apocalyptic Manhattan. In 2024, The Walking Dead fans will finally see the long-awaited reunion between separated lovers Rick Grimes and Michonne in the upcoming untitled limited drama starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira.

Besides the upcoming three shows, Gimple also revealed that development on other Walking Dead projects has begun for the next phase of the franchise. "This year... is about focusing on these classic character shows, but also, we're still wrapping up [the spinoff series] Fear the Walking Dead," he said. "And then, there are other projects that have been on the burner, as well. We're getting the next phase ready."

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere sometime in 2023 on AMC.
