AMC Debuts First Walking Dead Crossover Teaser Image

Following the blockbuster announcement that The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead will indeed be crossing over with each other, AMC has released a teaser hyping the event.

The cable network followed up on creator Robert Kirkman's reveal during the shows' New York Comic Con presentation with the following image, combining the aesthetics of both shows to create a singular message: "The Worlds Collide."

"This is real," AMC Tweeted alongside the artwork. "#crossover #TWD #FearTWD"

While intriguing, the image doesn't really offer much, if anything, in the way of clues regarding which series the crossover will occur on, or which character will be forging the connection between series. "We want these shows to have their own legs and have their own stories and be their own," Kirkman told said when making the announcement. "There are two Walking Dead shows. There is one character that is going to go from one show — that I will not name — and appear in the other show — that I will not name."

From the day Fear the Walking Dead was announced, fans of the zombie franchise have been asking when the survivors featured on the two shows would cross paths. For year, the answer Kirkman (who Executive Produces both series) and others involved in shepherding the shows would respond with some form of, "It is never going to happen." The reasons given have included the fact that the series operate on different timelines (Fear is based at a point in The Walking Dead's past), the distance between the casts (one is based on the East Coast, the other in California and Mexico), and just the concern over whether they would be able to spin a story convincing enough to satisfy fans.

Now, apparently, those hurdles have been solved.

Returning for its eighth season to AMC on Oct. 22, The Walking Dead is a production of Skybound Entertainment starring Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Michael Rooker, David Morrissey, Melissa McBride, Scott Wilson, Michael Cudlitz, Emily Kinney, Chad L. Coleman, Lennie James, Sonequa Martin-Green and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT and is a production of Square Head Pictures created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson. The show stars Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Mercedes Mason, Lorenzo James Henrie, Rubén Blades, Colman Domingo, Michelle Ang, Danay Garcia, Daniel Sharman, Sam Underwood, Dayton Callie and Lisandra Tena.
