So far, nobody has spilled the beans on who will be revealed to be Negan's victim when "The Walking Dead" returns, but there have been no small amount of fan theories regarding which of Rick and company's band of survivors will be on the receiving end of Lucille's wrath. Comic book purists are certain Glenn is on his way out, while others have pinned Lincoln, Rosita and, yes, Daryl as Negan's first Alexandria-based victim.

A new clip from the upcoming season only serves to add fuel to the "Daryl dies" fire, as we see Dwight not only driving Daryl's motorcycle, but also sporting his iconic, angel-winged leather vest.

"It was exhausting, and it was no fun," Norman Reedus recently said of filming the season's opening scene. "You know, we always come back to this show every season, and we're like, 'Yeah, let's get back into it!' You know, all the actors are excited to be here and see each other and get back into where they were. But this was one of those where it's like, 'Oh, fuck. Here we go.' It was definitely not a joyous reunion. I mean, it was nice to see everybody again, of course, but it wasn't the same as in previous years."

"Some relinquish power. Some accept it. Some fight it," he revealed. "There are people questioning it. There are people pointing their fingers. There are people blaming themselves. Other things happen that completely destroy people. The group is completely broken apart at this point. Negan has come in and completely shaken up everything. Loyalties are broken, belief in one another, belief in ourselves. Each individual is completely broken, and they don't all handle it the exact same way."

So, does Daryl survive the wrath of Negan? Only time will tell, but the scene indicates that whether he makes it past the season's opening scene or not, there are dark days ahead for the crossbow wielding fan-favorite.

"The Walking Dead" returns Oct. 23 on AMC.
