Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, Justified Earn WGA Nominations

If the Writers Guild of America nominations are any indication -- The Hollywood Reporter's James Hibberd seems to think they could be -- The Walking Dead just might be a contender in next year's Emmy race.

AMC's adaptation of the acclaimed horror comic was nominated for best new series alongside HBO's Boardwalk Empire and Treme, FX's Justified and TNT's Men of a Certain Age.

Boardwalk Empire also received a nod in the best series category, joining AMC's Breaking Bad and Mad Men, Showtime's Dexter and NBC's Friday Night Lights. The two AMC dramas also picked up nominations in the episodic drama -- two for Breaking Bad, one for Mad Men -- as did Lost for its final episode "The End."

Breaking Bad, NBC's 30 Rock and ABC's Modern Family led the WGA nominations with three each. The winners will be announced on Feb. 5. The full list of nominees can be found at The Live Feed.
