With The Walking Dead Season 10 finale airing this weekend, Negan answers for one of his most shocking actions on the AMC series to date: The murder of Alpha.

After being recruited by the Whisperers, a rival faction of survivors that had been menacing Alexandria since Season 9, Negan formed a romantic relationships with their leader Alpha. Promised a reunion with her estranged daughter Lydia, Alpha was instead betrayed and killed by Negan as part of a ruse developed by Carol.

In the following exclusive clip, we see what happens when Negan catches Lydia avoiding him and has a heart-to-heart about murdering her mother.

Lydia had been taken in by Alexandria and grew to sympathize with them over the course of Season 9, eventually abandoning her allegiance to her mother and the Whisperers. Despite this, Lydia is still visibly troubled by the news of Alpha's death.

Season 10 had originally been slated to run for an additional episode, but the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has interrupted post-production work. The final episode will be completed and air on a later date this year as a special, before Season 11's debut.
