One of the biggest relationships recently introduced in The Walking Dead is between Whisperers leaders Alpha and Beta as they lead their faction of survivors against Hilltop.
In the opening scene from Season 10's second episode, the two allies and romantic partners first meeting is revealed in a flashback sequence taking place seven years before the events of the current season.
As Alpha and her daughter Lydia disguise themselves among walkers, Lydia loses composure when she notices the ravenous undead eating the face off a downed woman, causing the walkers to notice the survivors hiding in their midst. Darting inside a building for cover, Alpha meets Beta for the first time in a darkened hallway.
First appearing in Season 9, the Whisperers quickly launched a brutal campaign of violence against Hilltop and Alexandria, resulting in the establishment of strict borders between the survivor factions. With a wildfire leading to a violation of the borders in the Season 10 premiere, the fragile ceasefire with the Whisperers is likely coming to an ominous end.
