The following contains spoilers for Walker Season 3, Episode 14, "False Flag, Part 1," which debuted Thursday, March 23 on The CW.

Cordell Walker and his friends in the Texas Rangers have been on the defensive throughout Walker Season 3 against the terrorist organization Grey Flag. After infiltrating the syndicate, undercover Ranger Trey Barnett learned that its calculating leader was none other than his friend and mayoral assistant Kevin Golden. However, Walker is unable to act after being detained by Cooper -- his former mentor in the U.S. Marines, who has his own vendetta against Grey Flag.

Walker wakes up in Cooper’s house after previously being handcuffed to a sink. He receives encouragement from a vision of his late wife Emily. Stripping the gunpowder from one of his bullets, Walker pours it into the handcuff and ignites it with a match to break free -- just in time for Cassie Perez to arrive. But at Grey Flag’s headquarters, Trey and Kevin compare notes, with Kevin explaining that his disillusionment from working within a bureaucracy led him to create and lead the domestic terrorist syndicate.

Walker's Cordell (played by Jared Padalecki) and Kevin walk together on the ranch

After Cassie informs Walker that Kevin is the leader of Grey Flag, Walker arrives back at his family's ranch to learn that Kevin has taken August under his wing and is having him speak at a mayoral event celebrating Walker’s service. After Kevin tacitly threatens August while privately speaking with Walker about the ceremony, Walker orders his family not to attend the event. As Walker leaves for the ceremony alone, he is contacted by Julia, who meets with him back at the FBI safehouse but accuses him of being part of Grey Flag.

Trey scours the compound for evidence he lost, eventually breaking into Kevin’s desk as part of his search. After receiving a message from Trey warning him about the event, Captain Larry James alerts the FBI, who prepare a response team to take the fight directly to Grey Flag. Cassie and James arrive at the event site early to secretly canvass it while suspecting that Kevin knows that they’re on to him, but maintain their oblivious facade.

Trey and a Grey Flag strike team are dispatched to bring explosives to the event -- and police on the scene engage in a firefight with them after Trey fails to defuse a confrontation. Theaudience hears the commotion from the parking garage and flee the venue while Cassie and James move to take on the terrorists themselves, with Trey joining his friends and defeating them. Unbeknownst to everyone, Cooper is on the scene and quietly shadows Kevin as the scene descends into utter chaos from the panic caused by the firefight.

Walker learns from Julia that Kevin is setting him up to appear as the leader of Grey Flag, complete with donations from Grey Flag’s front organizations to the Walker family’s newly launched horse therapy project. Back at the site, Trey realizes that Kevin knew he was an undercover mole all along; the presumed explosives are fake. Real explosives planted in Julia’s car to destroy the FBI safehouse, killing Julia and leaving Walker to mourn her as Kevin makes his getaway.

Developed for television by Anna Fricke, Walker airs Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. on The CW, with episodes available to stream the following day on The CW App.
