A brand new Walker trailer has given fans a first look at the long-time Supernatural alum, Jared Padalecki's Texas Ranger in action.

Taking the reigns from Chuck Norris in the upcoming reboot based on the '90s action-crime series Walker, Texas Ranger, Jared Padalecki plays the titular role in Walker. Prospective audiences are now able to see Padelecki's Cordell Walker in the CW's recently released trailer as he rounds up bad guys and struggles through the perils of fatherhood. The trailer begins with Walker receiving a stern admonishment from his Captain, Larry James (Coby Bell) for his no-doubt renegade behavior. Walker is only seen responding glibly to his partner Micki Ramirez (played by The 100 star Lindsey Morgan) who is also in the room by saying, "See, that's his formal way of calling me an idiot."

The trailer appears to tease the complicated relationship between Walker and his children. His rebellious and resentful teenage daughter (Violet Brinson, known for The Comey Rule and Sharp Objects), makes a brief appearance to sarcastically greet her unbothered father saying, "Here he comes to save the day." In addition, the trailer introduces the protagonist's late wife Emily, played by Padalecki's real-life spouse Genevieve Padalecki, in what seems to be a momentary flashback of a happier time between Walker and his family.

After 15 years starring in the fantasy/horror series Supernatural, Padelecki also serving as executive producer on the new reboot, which will not stray too far from the original Walker, Texas Ranger series that ran for nine seasons from 1993 and 2001, on CBS.

The remake begins by giving Walker a self-described second chance to fix things after two-years of undercover work in Austin. After being recently made a widower, Walker returns to his home-town in Texas where he will have to adjust to his new partner and new roles as both a single father of two teenage children and a cop in the Texas Rangers as he investigates the mysterious circumstances around his wife's death. The trailer highlight's the modern cowboy/cop as sassy and ass-kicking as he pushes the boundaries of the law in order to do what's morally right.

Walker stars Jared Padalecki, Lindsey Morgan, Keegan Allen, Mitch Pileggi, Molly Hagan and Coby Bell. It premieres Jan. 21, 2021 on The CW.
