A new trailer for the film Voyagers details what it's like to take space-age ecstasy -- with deadly results.

The trailer focuses on the crew of a manned space mission, who soon learn that the blue liquid they consume every day is an experimental drug. The drug heightens their pleasure centers, leading to several bouts of debauchery and dangerous stunts, including touching a live wire. However, repeated usage of the drug soon leads to violent behavior for one of the crew's members.

Voyagers is written and directed by Neil Burger. Burger is no stranger to using science fiction as a metaphor for addiction, as he previously directed the 2011 film Limitless which starred Bradley Cooper as a struggling writer who takes an experimental drug that enhances his brain activity. Voyagers is also being distributed by Lionsgate, who Burger directed Divergent for.

Voyagers stars Lily-Rose Depp (Yoga Hosers) and Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One, X-Men: Apocalypse) as crew members Sela and Christopher. Colin Farrell (The Batman) stars as mission director Richard Alling, while Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk) rounds out the cast as Zac, the first crew member to succumb to the drug's deadlier side.

Written and directed by Neil Burger, Voyagers is slated to premiere in theaters on April 9.
