The first trailer for the Disney+ television series Loki picks up with the titular God of Mischief escaping from the Avengers after the Battle of New York with help from the Tesseract. While Loki soon gets picked up by the Time Variance Authority, the trailer teases his continuing adventures through time and space, hinting he's up to something, and confirming he'll don his most comics-accurate look yet.

At the end of the trailer, Loki is in a room full of random furniture that has plants falling from the ceiling. The God of Mischief is surrounded by several armed men who appear to be from various places in both time and space. As for Loki, he's in the middle of the group, and he's wearing a three-piece suit. The suit itself is black, but the vest underneath it is bright green, just like his patterned tie. His ensemble is completed by his signature horned crown, and he has a large political button on his lapel that sports his name.

The suit itself is identical to the one Loki wore in the 2016 miniseries Vote Loki, by Christopher Hastings, Langdon Foss and Paul McCaffrey. The miniseries, which was released to time with the 2016 Presidential Election, saw the God of Mischief campaigning to become the President of the United States, using his powers of deception to further his cause. Being the God of Mischief, Loki specializes in lies, and this made for a fascinating critique of the political landscape.

During this campaign, Loki ditched his trademark green and gold robes for a suit that would better reflect his political aspirations. And this is the very same suit that appears in the Loki trailer.

The trailer doesn't give a lot of evidence for why the God of Mischief is sporting his Vote Loki. Still, as he travels either in time and/or space, Loki could at one point find himself in a political campaign as part of his mysterious mission. All we know right now is that this does seem to tie in perfectly with one of the main themes of the Disney+ series: Loki's lies.

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Sasha Lane, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard E. Grant. The series arrives on Disney+ in May 2021.
