It was announced at Comic-Con International: San Diego this past summer that Voltron: Legendary Defender would soon be entering its eighth and final season. Today, at New York Comic Con, fans got a chance to see the beginning of the end in the form of one last trailer for the Dreamworks show.A panel headed up by several of the series' voice actors, alongside story editor Josh Hamilton and executive producers Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery, featured a retrospective of the show's first seven seasons before giving the audience a sneak peek at what is yet to come.

The Voltron team streamed some of the panel on various social media platforms, and live-tweeted trivia about the show and its cast and crew throughout their NYCC presentation. Some of the cast's answers to fan questions, such as favorite episodes and greatest guest stars, were also posted on Twitter.

The tagline, "Everything they've been through, everything they've fought for has been leading up to this" appears under the teaser trailer, which is now visible to fans everywhere on YouTube.

Legendary Defender premiered on Netflix in June 2016 with a projected run of 78 episodes. Its worldwide release quickly gained a faithful following, making it one of the streaming service's most popular animated original series. The show has gone on to win multiple awards throughout its course and has inspired a series of comic books, video games and action figures. The comic books serve to bridge the gaps between seasons and to flesh out storylines that could not otherwise fit into single-episode running times.

The final season of Voltron: Legendary Defender premieres Dec. 14 on Netflix and features the voices of actors Bex Taylor-Klaus, Jeremy Shada, Tyler Labine, Steven Yeun, Kimberly Brooks, Rhys Darby and Josh Keaton.
