The following image, which shows three classic video games featuring the X-Men, came from an Instagram story that Vogt-Roberts recently posted, according to Omega Underground. What's notable about the photo is that each of the covers features Gambit.

Fuelling the speculation are long-time producer and X-Men: Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg's recent remarks to Entertainment Weekly that the production has "met with a bunch of directors in the last couple weeks." Kinberg has also reassured fans that, despite a looming deal that will see Disney acquire many key assets from Fox, Gambit is still happening.

Gambit has had a tumultuous production history and has passed through three directors — Rupert Wyatt, Doug Liman and Gore Verbinski. The movie has also gone at least one substantial rewrite. However, despite numerous changes to the film, Channing Tatum has remained attached to the title role.
