Viz unveils new 'Animerica' design

Official Press Release

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- September 19, 2001 -- To celebrate ANIMERICA's ninth year in circulation, Viz Communications, Inc. today unveiled a new look for the magazine. The new ANIMERICA design will be introduced in the double-sized November issue (Volume 9, No. 10/11), which hits newsstands on September 21 and will feature an updated ANIMERICA logo, square-bound treatment, a reader-friendly design and expanded content that reflects Viz's leadership in the industry and the expertise of the magazine's editorial staff.

Through in-depth features and exclusive creator interviews and columns, ANIMERICA will offer readers more news and reviews than in years past, along with a free foldout poster in each issue and monthly reader contests. By providing more of what readers want most, ANIMERICA fans will also have the edge on current, hot trends in Japan and upcoming U.S. releases.

"As the premier U.S. publisher of manga and anime, Viz is well aware of the growth in popularity for anime," said Dallas Middaugh, Director of Sales and Marketing for Viz Communications, Inc. "ANIMERICA is the number one monthly anime magazine, and our new look should appeal to both our loyal fans and any and all newcomers to the anime world."

ANIMERICA is the longest-running magazine on Japanese animation (anime) and comics (manga) in America. Launched in November 1992, ANIMERICA is the English-speaking world's premiere source of information for anime and manga. Growing to meet the needs of a thriving anime market and the desires of its readers, ANIMERICA has nearly doubled its page count over the years without changing its price. By working closely with both U.S. and Japanese production companies, Viz ensures that every issue of ANIMERICA is loaded with the latest information on animation, comics, video games, music and cultural trends.
