The CW Seed announced the premiere date for "Vixen's" upcoming second season today. The season, which is set to see the return of the mystically empowered Mari McCabe, will be premiering on October 14.
This news comes via The CW Seed's Twitter account, which responded to a fan question inquiring about the new season. Heroic Hollywood spotted this tweet which can be seen below:

The first season of "Vixen" ran for six mini-episodes and showed how Mari (Megalyn EK) became endowed with the powers to turn into any animal she could summon. During the first season, Mari was able to meet some familiar DC TV superheroes, including The Flash (Grant Gustin), the Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes).
The first clip of "Vixen" season two debuted this summer at Comic-Con International. The clip features The Flash and Firestorm (Franz Drameh and Victor Garber) facing off against Weather Wizard (Liam McIntyre). Mari jumps in to help stop the giant tidal wave that's heading toward Monument Point, but she gets taken down by a huge burst of lightning. Check out the clip below:
Even though "Vixen" is an animated series, Mari McCabe made a guest live-action appearance on "Arrow" this season. During the episode, she shared a moment of recognition with Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), a friendship which will apparently be explored in season two flashbacks. Mari's ancestor has also joined the cast of "Legends of Tomorrow" and will be played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers. Sellers will play an earlier incarnation of Vixen from the 1940s.
Season one of "Vixen" has been combined into one 31-minute episode and is currently available to stream for free on The CW Seed. Season two will premiere on The CW Seed on October 14, likely in six mini-episodes again.
