It’s been more than a decade since the last “xXx” film hit theaters, but Paramount is already ready for more. Speaking to Variety during the London premiere for “xXx: Return of Xander Cage,” Vin Diesel revealed that the studio behind the films is already interested in a fourth film.
When asked about the future of the franchise, Diesel said, “Well, it’s funny… I was in the middle of an interview and Brad Grey — who runs Paramount — calls me and says, ‘Will everybody come back to work in May?’ I’m like — everyone’s in interviews right now!”
The “everybody” Diesel is referring to most likely means the current cast of the new film, including Deepika Padukone, Ruby Rose, Donnie Yen, Nina Dobrev and Tony Jaa. When reached for comment, Paramount did not respond.
During the London premiere, the cast — all from diverse locations, including India, China, Thailand, Australia, and the U.S. — arrived on a luxury yacht, except for Diesel, who helicoptered in later on. On the white carpet, Diesel praised the diversity of the crew, saying that he wanted to move “out of the confines of Hollywood” and tap into other markets for their “celebrated, respected heroes.”
Starring Vin Diesel, Donnie Yen, Deepika Padukone, Tony Jaa and Samuel L. Jackson, “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” hits theaters on January 20.
