WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Bloodshot, in theaters now.

Bloodshot ends on an explosive note with Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) finally breaking free from Rising Spirit Technologies. He takes out its nefarious boss, Dr. Emil Harting (Guy Pearce), after getting help from his handler, KT (Eiza González), and the hacker who freed him from his nanite control by the company, Wilfred (Lamorne Morris).

However, after burning Rising Tech to the ground, there are a couple of key developments in the film that set up an action-packed sequel for Sony. Let's look at all the ways Bloodshot sets up a follow-up.

RISING SPIRIT'S HUNTERS

Early on, Emil introduces Ray to an array of augmented soldiers. Ray was resurrected from the dead with super-speed, strength and healing powers, while the likes of Tibbs (Alex Hernandez) is basically a cyborg who can connect with cameras and drones to turn him from a blind man to someone with sight all over. Throughout the movie, Emil makes it clear he's toyed with even more war veterans, making them super-soldiers.

Now, while Emil did have Ray secretly taking out his former colleagues so they couldn't become rivals, that doesn't mean this Rising Spirit lab that was destroyed was the only one. With thousands of soldiers in projects scattered across the world, other assets could be initiated for a hunt. Ray is Rising Spirit's property and while the Harbinger crossover is unlikely as this property has crossed over to Paramount Studios, there are still other Valiant heroes that can be used or repurposed.

Harbinger dealt with psionics such as the villainous Toyo Harada, as well as rebels like Peter Stancheck and Faith, so psionic soldiers can still be introduced. It's also possible that other Valiant warriors grounded, such as the Eternal Warrior and Rai, are in play. In the books, immortality through mysticism and the supernatural was studied by Rising Spirit for its nanite tech used in the Bloodshot program, so these soldiers can be retrofitted as part of Rising Spirit's earlier programs or by someone Emil excommunicated.

THE NEW A-TEAM

KT hated the fact she was partnered with Jimmy and Tibbs so much and felt it was a wasted trio due to them being mindless lackeys. Now, she has a dream team with Ray and Wilfred alongside her, and they could be the A-team she always wanted to work with to change the world. She's a badass fighter and not as powered-up like Ray, but there's a romance brewing so they'll definitely do anything to protect each other.

Evil corporations could seek to kidnap Ray or get to KT because they couldn't master nanite tech to make their own Ray. Then there are other governments, cartels, sinister societies, and a bunch of labs Emil was supposed to sell to that might be willing to send legions, maybe even with super-soldier experiments of their own, to hunt this A-Team down. MI-6 is one possibility with Britain's Ninjak an option should Sony want to pull from the books.

It's unclear who else from Ray's squad was taken in before or after death so again, it could become a Winter Soldier-like scenario where familiar faces he fought with in the war come after him. Wilfred noted as much as they love freedom and roaming the countryside, everyone from the cops to a bunch of goons will be looking for them so it's best they lay low. Yet KT suggests they do some good so if she and Ray become a Dynamic Duo, as Wilfred warned, they'll be putting a target on their backs in what's now a global arms race.

Directed by Dave Wilson (VFX Supervisor for Avengers: Age of Ultron) with a script by Eric Heisserer (Arrival) and Jeff Wadlow (Truth or Dare), Bloodshot stars Vin Diesel, Guy Pearce and Toby Kebbell. The film is in theaters now.
