Appearing Wednesday on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Vin Diesel gleefully announced the setting of "Fast and Furious 8."
"New York, baby!" the action star shouted, eliciting cheers from the audience.
Reiterating that the film will kick off the final trilogy in Universal's blockbuster franchise, Diesel explained that the inspiration for the 2001 original was a "Vibe" magazine article about street racers in New York, but the director and producer moved the setting to Los Angeles. "So we're finally bringing it back home, baby!" he declared.
"Straight Outta Compton" director F. Gary Gray, who worked with Diesel on the 2003 action film "A Man Apart," will helm the sequel, set to arrive April 17, 2017.
