As Sony continues to build their own Spider-Man universe, fans have shifted their excitement to the release of the long-delayed Sinister Six film. Conceived way back in 2014, the film was originally going to be tied to Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man movies. However, after Spider-Man joined the MCU in Captain America: Civil War, the movie was canceled.

With Venom releasing in 2018 and Sony establishing a new cinematic universe, talks picked up about the Sinister Six again. Sony has several upcoming movies within the universe, all of which could include various villains who could make an appearance in Sinister Six.

10 Venom Is Arguably The Anchor Of Sony's Spider-Man Universe

Venom Movie feature image - Attack

Tom Hardy's Venom is by far the most important character in Sony's Spider-Man universe. In fact, the most successful movies in the shared universe are led by Venom. While Venom: Let There Be Carnage didn't live up to the first film, it's clear audiences love Eddie Brock and Venom themselves.

As Venom could anchor the team, it's a no-brainer to include him in the Sinister Six lineup. While Venom wasn't much of a member of the Sinister Six in the comics, this event film will clearly start and end with Venom front and center.

9 Morbius Would Be A Shoo-In Despite Critical Panning

Morbius wasn't the most well-received film. In fact, it was loathed by critics and fans alike. While star Jared Leto earned praise for his portrayal of Michael Morbius, the film was considered a bomb. It was also criticized for its script.

Sony recognizes Morbius is an important character in their universe, regardless of the film itself bombing (twice). Furthermore, with an actor the caliber of Jared Leto, Morbius will likely return at some point – even if it's not in his own solo film. As a result, Sinister Six is the perfect avenue for the character as he wouldn't be required to carry the whole film himself.

8 Kraven The Hunter Was A Founding Member In The Comics

Sony's universe expanded to the upcoming Kraven The Hunter movie, which began shooting in early 2022. Aaron Taylor-Johnson has already been cast as the titular character. And as one of Spider-Man's fiercest foes, he's a big game hunter who sets out to prove he's the world's greatest hunter.

Kraven is one of Spider-Man's most famous villains, and he's also a founding member of the Sinister Six in the comics. Consequently, Sony was right to green light a film for the character, who may well be introduced before Sinister Six. Johnson stated he'd signed on to play Kraven in "several" films, and if done right, Kraven could have a bright future in the shared universe.

7 Vulture Has A Connection To The Wider Sony Universe

The Vulture's appearance in the mid-credits scene of Morbius movie

One thing fans lost their minds over when the first trailer to Morbius came out was the inclusion of Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes/Vulture. Making his debut in the MCU's Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans were shocked to see him in a different universe. However, by the time Morbius came out, he was relegated to post-credits scenes only.

The first post-credit scene finds Toomes transported to Morbius' universe, which happens concurrently with Spider-Man: No Way Home. Toomes then approaches Morbius to work together and form a team. The team is clearly the Sinister Six, which is apparent regardless of how badly Sony botched Vulture's involvement in the film.

6 Madame Web Should Factor In Somehow

Madame Web in the upcoming Sony film

Sony's Madame Web movie, which stars Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, is releasing next summer. It's heavily rumored Madame Web is Sony's answer to Doctor Strange – a character who can travel across dimensions.

While Madame Web herself may not be a member of the Sinister Six, it's possible she'll play a role in setting up the plot of the Sinister Six movie. Perhaps she's directly involved with the antagonist of the movie somehow and forms the Sinister Six to defeat them. Alternatively, she may have the group travel across the multiverse to recruit members for the team.

5 Green Goblin Is On One Director's Wish List

Norman Osborn as the Green Goblin in Marvel Comics Spider-Man

Morbius was directed by Daniel Espinosa. As he was involved with creating the film and contributing to the story, he knew Vulture would appear in the film to tease the creation of the Sinister Six. He also expressed an interest in having Norman Osborn – also known as the Green Goblin – join the team.

Osborn has been played to near-perfection by Willem Dafoe in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series and Spider-Man: No Way Home, so it's more likely Sony will recast the role. It's also not been established if Oscorp exists in Sony's universe. It was featured in a trailer for Morbius but did not appear in the film. If he joined the movie, Osborn would most likely need to be introduced, but whoever took the role would have a tough act to follow after Dafoe.

4 Calypso Will Be Introduced In Kraven The Hunter

Calypso from the Spider-Man comics

With Kraven The Hunter releasing in early 2023, it's also been confirmed the villain Calypso will appear in the movie. A voodoo priestess whose abilities also rely on magic potions, she's a love interest of Kraven the Hunter's in the comics. She'll be played by Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose.

Calypso is another character who may not be a member of the Sinister Six but could certainly appear in the film – especially if she and Kraven end up together at the end of Kraven The Hunter. If that's the case, it's obvious Sony would bring her back for future outings.

3 Chameleon May Also Make An Appearance In Kraven The Hunter

chameleon could be a sinister six member in the upcoming Sony movie

In addition to Kraven and Calypso, it's rumored the film will be the live-action debut of the Chameleon, played by Fred Hechinger. One of the founding members of the Sinister Six in the comics, Chameleon is a master of disguise and the half-brother of Kraven The Hunter.

As the first villain Spider-Man ever faced in his comics debut in 1963, it makes sense Sony would have him appear in Sinister Six. Perhaps in Kraven The Hunter, the relationship between the half-brothers will be explored. How they learn to work with one another would be an asset to the Sinister Six.

2 Rhino Could Be Portrayed Correctly This Time

Rhino Spiderman Marvel Comics

Rhino is one of Spider-Man's most famous foes. A Russian criminal who endured experimentation that left him with superhuman strength and artificial skin, he's one of the strongest villains in Spider-Man's rogue gallery. He previously appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, played by Paul Giamatti.

Rhino's appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 wasn't well-received by fans. Deviating from the comics, Rhino was simply a man in a mechanical rhinoceros suit. Sony has the chance to correct the course and have a more comics-accurate Rhino appear in Sinister Six. Also, given the fact Rhino is Russian, it may give him a connection to Kraven and Chameleon, who are also Russian. Perhaps they'll recruit Rhino to the team in the film?

1 Black Cat Could Finally Be Portrayed In Live-Action

Black Cat attacks Spider-Man in Marvel Comics

Fans have wanted Felicia Hardy, also known as Black Cat, to make her debut in a Spider-Man film for years. While Felicity Jones portrayed Hardy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, she didn't appear as Black Cat. She was meant to appear in the future; however, that universe was canceled in favor of Tom Holland joining the MCU.

Fans cast Sydney Sweeney to play the role; however, she's playing an unspecified character in the upcoming Madame Web. As Hardy is a significant love interest to Spider-Man, it makes sense she'd appear in a project featuring many Spider-Man villains. Sony wouldn't be wrong to feature Black Cat in their universe considering she has plenty of great stories to tell.
