Social media is great for many things. It’s great for interacting with fans, sharing your thoughts, and — if you’re an actor in a fan-favorite franchise — making it known that you’d be up for starring in another fan-favorite franchise. That’s exactly what’s happened with Katheryn Winnick a few times, the most recent involving DC’s newly-expanding cinematic universe.
The actress, known for her role as Lagertha on the History Channel’s drama series “Vikings,” has made it known that she would be game for playing the big screen’s Black Canary should Warner Bros. ever feel up for introducing the character. When asked if she’d be up for the role, Winnick replied with:

Black Canary’s already made a bit of a name for herself on the small screen as part of the CW’s “Arrow.” Caity Lotz and Katie Cassidy played sisters Sara and Laurel Lance, both of whom took on the Black Canary mantle over the CW show’s first four seasons. Lotz currently plays the White Canary on “Legends of Tomorrow.” While the DC Cinematic Universe has plans to introduce a number of A-listers in their films, Green Arrow and the heroes closely associated with him have yet to get involved.
This isn’t the first time Winnick has expressed a desire to play a movie superhero. Before Brie Larson landed the role of Captain Marvel, Winnick expressed her desire to play Carol Danvers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
