Viggo Mortensen Won't Star As Snow White's Huntsman After All

Viggo Mortensen, who had been in talks since at least late January for a lead role in Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman, has withdrawn from negotiations.

The star of The Road and The Lord of the Rings trilogy was to appear opposite Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron in director Rupert Sanders' reinterpretation of the classic fairy tale -- one of several in development. But Heat Vision reports that negotiations were dicey from the very start, with Mortensen asking for $8 million plus gross participation.

An earlier breakdown in talks is what apparently led the actor to consider the role of the villain in Zack Snyder's Superman. Although the director stated just last week that Mortensen won't be in the Warner Bros. reboot, this latest report will likely reignite speculation that the actor's again a contender for the high-profile part.
