Avengers: Endgame saw a new evolution for the Hulk that combined his strength with the intelligence of Bruce Banner. The once unpredictable smashing machine now has the ability to think clearly and intelligently. However, should we worry about Hulk in the aftermath of Endgame?

It's not necessarily true that Smart Hulk marks the end of the character's evolution. In the comics, Professor Hulk ends up battling Maestro, a future version of himself from another future. There's a possibility Professor Hulk might end up having to take on Maestro at some point in the future or even become the malevolent character. There are even a few major hints at this possibility in the film, especially in his confrontation with the Ancient One.

After using the Infinity Gauntlet to reverse the snap, Hulk received a major injury, which Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo say is permanent. This injury might factor into his future or end up being less permanent when Marvel Studios requires the hero again.
