Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 saw Peter Quill/Star-Lord finally learning his true parentage, which conferred on him some pretty incredible powers. However, the climax of the film -- which saw Star-Lord going up against his father, Ego, the Living Planet -- resulted in him losing those abilities. In this video, we're going to go through why that's a huge mistake.

As Ego's son, Peter has some pretty incredible abilities, many of which he used in the battle against his father. Peter, for example, turned into Pac-Man at one point to take down his father and there was a ton more that happened in their epic fight. There was potentially no limit to just what Peter might have been able to accomplish, but it's very unlikely we'll ever get to see just what he might have done since, when Ego was destroyed, Star-Lord's powers seemingly went with him.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there's a good indication the characters Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. At this time, the Guardians of the Galaxy are slated to return in a third film, which is not thought to have been affected by the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the delays its meant for the industry on the whole.
