Captain Marvel is proving to be a smashing success at the box office with critics and fans alike, having already earned over $1 billion. However, there's one major detail in the movie that a lot of fans aren't willing to accept.

Up until Captain Marvel, Nick Fury always wore an eye patch. Many fans were expecting an incredible story surrounding how the super spy lost his eye, but Captain Marvel revealed that it was scratched out by Goose the Cat, who is definitely more than just feline. Although it's clear that this is canonically how he lost his eye, there's a big question that remains: Why didn't Fury just get a new eye?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe possesses the technology to replace an eye, but Fury has never had his eye replaced. The reason for this might just have to do with the Skrulls and making sure they can't impersonate him.

Although Nick Fury was turned to dust at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, he's set to appear in Spider-Man: Far From Home, so don't expect the spy to stay dead long. It seems likely that the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn't yet done with the character who proposed the Avengers Initiative in 2008's Iron Man, and he's sure to play an integral role in whatever comes next.
