Although Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, was destroyed during the events of Thor: Ragnarok, he forged an arguably more powerful weapon in Avengers: Infinity War so as to get revenge on Thanos for killing Loki. The end of that film saw the God of Thunder single-handedly strike Thanos with a near-fatal blow, though he should have aimed for the head if he wanted to put the Mad Titan down for good. However, there's a lot of indications that Stormbreaker might play a key role in Avengers: Endgame.

We're not saying that Stormbreaker will just serve to help destroy Thanos. Instead, it might actually work to hold Earth Mightiest Heroes back in their quest to defeat the Mad Titan and reverse his snap. Although the weapon is certainly powerful, if can only be effective when used properly. The Russo brothers have also shared information about Stormbreaker that's an absolute gamechanger: Thor has lost the element of surprise.

At this time, it's not clear what role Thor will play in the MCU going forward. However, actor Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi have expressed their desires to make a follow-up to Thor: Ragnarok. Additionally, Tessa Thompson -- who debuted as Valkyrie in that film -- claimed she heard about a pitch for a fourth Thor movie, so it's entirely possible the God of Thunder might not be done with the MCU quite yet.
