On his path to obtaining the Infinity Stones, Thanos killed a lot of people, which culminated in his destruction of half the universe in Avengers: Infinity War. The surviving Avengers will work to defeat the Mad Titan and undo his snap in Avengers: Endgame, but what if Thanos will actually be redeemed in that movie?

Sure, Thanos is a bad guy, but so was Loki, and he's since been redeemed. It's not impossible that the Mad Titan could make a similar turn. This could lead to his survival and continued presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to come. There's also some evidence from the comics that Thanos might just end up getting redeemed in Endgame.

It's unclear at this time how Thanos will factor into the MCU following the events of Endgame. However, casting information for the Eternals movie seems to indicate that the Mad Titan's brother, Eros of Titan, will appear in the film. If this movie is a prequel, it might give a look at a younger version of the Mad Titan, while a sequel could see him playing some role in the film's narrative. The Eternals will reportedly start production in 2019 and is targeting a 2020 release date.
