After successfully defeating Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos retired to become a farmer. Avengers: Endgame will see the titular team attempting to defeat the Mad Titan and reverse the snap, which destroyed half the life in the universe. A lot of fan theories so far have focused on how the Avengers will defeat Thanos, but few have focused on just what the Mad Titan's plan will be when he actually faces off against them.

The trailers for Endgame seem to indicate that Thanos will face the Avengers sooner rather than later, but it's not entirely clear how much he's still able to use the Infinity Stones, especially since the Infinity Gauntlet was damaged during the snap. Some footage indicates that Thanos will teleport to his battle with Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but it's also totally possible that he could be brought to some location by the Bifrost, which Thor is able to manipulate.

Depending on what happens to Thanos in Endgame, it's entirely possible that he'll play some role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Phase Four rolls around. Early reports have indicated that Eros of Titan -- the brother of Thanos -- will play a role in The Eternals, so it's possible he'll feature in that movie in some capacity, though it's possible it will just be a cameo.
