Avengers: Endgame will feature the titular team's key members bringing the fight to Thanos so as to reverse the events of the snap. Everyone is going to have to be at maximum strength to stand a chance of defeating the Mad Titan, but a new theory posits that Steve Rogers/Captain America's Super Soldier Serum might be starting to wear off, which could spell trouble for Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

There's some precedent for this in the comics. Captain America #438 sees the hero facing off against Red Skull. However, his body starts to freeze up. After years of having used the Super Soldier Serum, his body starts to shutdown. He eventually takes desperate action, but it does show that the Super Soldier Serum can start to cause problems. This isn't an isolated incident, either. It happens at other points, too.

There's a lot of speculation surrounding which heroes will die before the credits roll for Endgame. Although many think Rogers will perish, this might give a natural way of removing him from the Marvel cinematic Universe without necessarily killing him. This could then leave open the possibly of the character appearing in the future while also allowing him to pass the mantle of Captain America to either Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier or Sam Wilson/Falcon.
