VIDEO: Does Spider-Man's Uncle Ben Exist In The MCU?

CBR investigates whether or not Uncle Ben actually exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new exclusive video.

Uncle Ben is one of the most important characters in Spider-Man/Peter Parker's story. However, unlike most first films in a series of Spider-Man movies, Spider-Man: Homecoming didn't feature the character's death. Although there was an indirect reference to him, the story picked up long after he would have died. However, is it possible that Uncle Ben doesn't actually exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Uncle Ben's death -- and Peter's role in that loss -- is what helps inspire the young Spider-Man to start doing good in the world and act like a real hero, especially when it starts to seem like he'll use his powers for his own profit and personal gain. Having Uncle Ben not exist in the MCU would definitely be a major change to the character's backstory, but it could definitely be done.

There's been some hope from fans that either former Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield will join the MCU as Uncle Ben. Although they'd be fitting in terms of age, there's no indication that either will take the role any time soon.

Although Peter Parker appeared to die at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, the character is set to appear in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is set after the events of the upcoming Avengers: Endgame. Far From Home will see the character going to Europe and partnering with Mysterio. It's unclear if something on that trip will prompt Peter to mention or reference his Uncle Ben, allowing fans to finally find out the character's fate in the MCU. There's also some speculation that the movie might finally answer what happened to Peter Parker's parents: Richard and Mary Parker.
