Marvel Comics has few hero/villain relationships quite like Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Eddie Brock/Venom. While the two have often been enemies, the publisher moving the latter more towards being an anti-hero has seen their relationship soften in recent years. As far as the current movies go, though, the MCU's Spider-Man and Sony's Venom haven't actually met due to various rights issue. Still, there are rumors the two characters might just encounter each other sooner rather than later, and in this new exclusive video, we're going to go into why Spider-Man might just become Venom in the future.

A big part of this has to do with Peter's relationship to the symbiote. During the Secret Wars event, Spider-Man went into an alien lab that gave him a black version of his suit. While Peter was initially unaware of the true nature of his suit, he eventually figured things out, causing him to go to a belltower to get rid of it. The symbiote then found Eddie and attached itself to him. While the cinematic Venom has played out much differently, there's still a way to give the symbiote a relationship with Peter.

In terms of their next appearances on the big-screen, Tom Holland is set to reprise his role in a third Spider-Man film for Marvel Studios, though the exact state of the character in that movie following the reveal of his secret identity in Spider-Man: Far From Home is currently unknown. That movie is set for release in 2021. Venom will return in a sequel, subtitled Let There Be Carnage, in 2021. That movie will deal with Eddie Brock taking on Cletus Kasady/Carnage, who was introduced in the post-credits scene of the 2018 original.
