VIDEO: All Of The Potential Skrulls Lurking Around The MCU

In a new exclusive video, CBR looks at all of the people in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who might just turn out to be Skrulls.

The Skrulls, an alien race of shapeshifters, are set to make their debut in the upcoming Captain Marvel film. As Captain Marvel is a prequel and the Skrulls possess the ability to take any form, it's entirely possible that there are characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that are secretly Skrulls. We think we might just know who could be a Skrull in the MCU.

In the comics, the Skrulls have conquered a lot of different planets and species. Although they're able to take on another character's appearance, they do not gain their superpowers. As such, it seems most likely that the Skrulls would choose to imitate those without superhero powers, which might just indicate who could end up being a Skrull.

SHIELD is a prime candidate for Skrull infiltration because of its power and access to information. A lot of people think that Clint Barton/Hawkeye may end up being revealed as a Skrull. There are also theories that such characters as Nick Fury will end up being revealed as a member of the villainous race. We don't think that Fury will end up being a Skrull, as he's just a bit too important to the MCU as a whole. Maria Hill, however, is a much more likely candidate.

How the Skrulls will factor into the MCU going forward is currently unknown. However, it seems entirely possible that Marvel Studios will look into making a film based off "Secret Invasion," an event comic that saw shapeshifting aliens known as the Skrull infiltrate and secretly replace heroes in the Marvel Universe. There were reports late last year that Marvel Studios was looking at making a Dark Avengers film, a team that sprung up in the aftermath of that event.
